Conventions of a Diary

Many times when people keep diaries they write about how they feel. People also sometimes write about their encounters with God and their prayers to God. This is similar to how people can go online to Prayer Journal to keep a record of their prayers.

The movie Eat Pray Love, starring Julia Roberts is a good example of someone traveling to a foreign country and working on their religion. She travels to many different countries and along the way she develops an understanding of herself.  She eats in Italy and finds the power of prayer in India.

Another website that focuses on writing down prayers into a diary format is: A Prayer Diary. On this website the host writes down here prayers for people to read.  She also incorporates pictures that go along with what she is praying about.  Her page is kind of like a blog.  She will post each prayer and there is an opportunity for  people to comment or simply just enjoy what she has to say.

Though many people think that diaries are usually just teenage girls gushing over a guy that they have a crush on, many times they are a lot deeper then that. Though keeping a diary about your prayers may not be people first choice when they write a diary, it is a great way to write down your thoughts.  Diaries are never one specific type of writing, merely because what is being written is all about the author and how the author views life. So there can never be a right or wrong way to write a diary.
