I’m finally in Rome! I loved the time I spent in Venice but I’m so excited to be in Rome! Today it was a beautiful, warm, sunny day. I decided the first thing I would do is walk around and explore. I want to get in all the sight-seeing I can. After walking around for about two hours, I realized I was lost and would not be able to find my way back to the hotel. I decided to take out my map to find out where I was. I was reading my map while walking, which wasn’t the best idea. All of a sudden, I ran into something. When I looked up, I saw a gorgeous olive skinned man. We both stared into each other’s eyes for what seemed like hours. Eventually I apologized for running into him and making him drop his coffee. He responded by saying, “I’m glad you did. If you didn’t I wouldn’t have gotten the chance to meet you.” I felt my face turn bright red. He told me his name was Vincenzo. I love his name; it sounds like a true Italian name. I started to walk away, but before I could he asked if he could show me around Rome. I decided I would let him because the best way to see a place you’ve never been is to have someone that lives there take you around. We walked all over town. I took in all the beautiful scenery and the culture. Eventually we got tired of walking so we went to a park and sat down. We talked for hours. The conversation felt effortless. Tomorrow he wants to take me to the Coliseum. I can’t wait!

I’m still a bit shocked that I met a guy my first day here and I have been spending time with him. This is nothing like the usual me! I don’t know what Rome has done to me but I’m glad.
Today, Vincenzo took me to the Coliseum. On the way there, he bought me a rose from a street vendor. I thought it was very sweet of him. Once we got to the Coliseum, we took lots of pictures. I was amazed at how enormous the Coliseum was. I’m really glad I have someone taking me around Rome and showing me all the fun places to see. After we were done exploring the Coliseum, Vincenzo told me he wanted to take me out to dinner tonight. Of course I agreed to it! He walked me back to my hotel and told me he would pick me up at 7:30 p.m. I was so excited! I tried on so many different outfits. I wanted to find the best one to wear. Before I knew it, it was 7:30 and he was at my door to pick me up! I was so nervous. He took me to a small Italian restaurant. It was really cute inside. We talked a lot during dinner. We told each other a lot of personal information about ourselves. I know this is crazy but I think I am falling in love with him.

Today, Vincenzo and I went out to breakfast together. We had a lot of fun. I feel like I have known him forever, even though I just met him two days ago. After we ate breakfast, Vincenzo took me shopping around town. I bought so many cute things! I even bought some of my family some things. Vincenzo wants me to meet his family tomorrow night over dinner. I don’t know if I should go or not. I didn’t realize this relationship was getting serious.

I thought about it all night and I decided I would meet Vincenzo’s family tonight. I didn’t know if it was the right thing to do but it was what my heart was telling me to do. I was excited and nervous at the same time. I spent all day getting ready and figuring out what to say to them. Vincenzo picked me up at 6 p.m. and drove me to his parents’ house. When I walked in I was amazed by how many people were there and how loud it was inside. I wish I would have known how big his family was before I walked in. Everyone in his family was extremely nice to me. They wanted to hear all about my life and my family. Overall, I had a really nice time with Vincenzo and his family.

Today, Vincenzo and I met at a coffee shop around 2 p.m. We really enjoy just talking with each other. I feel like I have seen so much of Rome in these past couple of days than I could have seen in a month. During the evening, Vincenzo and I went to the beach and walked around. We watched the sunset. It was so beautiful. I’m really glad I met him. I can’t imagine what my trip would have been like if I didn’t. On a sad note, today I realized I’m leaving for Tuscany in two days. This has made me very sad. Even though I haven’t know Vincenzo for very long I don’t want to leave him.

This was my last full day in Rome. I’m spent as much of it as I could with Vincenzo. He picked me up at my hotel at noon to go to the Trevi Fountain. It was beautiful. The water looked so clear and pretty. I really liked all of the statues and rocks that were behind the fountain. They were so many people there. They were all throwing coins in and making wishes. A little while after we got there, Vincenzo took out two coins so we could both make a wish and throw them into the fountain. He made me turn my back to the fountain and throw the coin over my shoulder. He counted to three and then we both threw our coin in. He said the reason he gave me a coin to throw in is because legend has it, if you throw a coin in the Trevi Fountain, you will return to Rome. We spent the rest of the day talking near the fountain. It was a really amazing day. I can’t believe I have to leave tomorrow.

I can’t believe I left Rome today. I really didn’t want to. I had such an amazing time here in Rome with Vincenzo. He picked me up and drove me to the airport at 1:30 p.m. He stayed with me at the airport until it was time for my plane to leave. We talked with each other the whole time he was there. I thanked him for showing me around and making my trip so amazing. Eventually, it was time for my plane to leave. I told Vincenzo we would keep in touch and someday I would be back in Rome to visit him. Before I left to catch my plane, he gave me a diamond necklace to remember him and my time in Rome. I’m very sad to leave Rome but I know I will have a great time in Tuscany.

For this project, I will be drawing many pictures. Even though I am not the best artist, my audience will still be able to tell what is going on in each picture and what everything is. The first picture I drew is the Trevi Fountain. I drew this because Bella, the girl in my story, will be visiting this while she is in Rome. I made the water a very pretty blue. This will make people want to visit Rome to see the Trevi Fountain. This will especially make girls reading the diary entry want to go to the Trevi Fountain with their boyfriend or husband so they can experience the romantic feel of it.
To portray Bella falling in love, I drew a picture of her with Vincenzo, the boy she meets in Rome. They are walking on the beach during the evening watching the sunset. I decided to have it occur during this time because people usually find scenes like these romantic. This will make my audience really feel the love Bella felt that night.
Another picture I drew is of Bella and Vincenzo at a Romantic dinner. In one of Bella’s diary entries, it talks about how much they both learned about each other the night they had dinner together. This is also the night they fell in love. I decided I would draw this scene because it is important for the romance aspect of our project. This will affect my audience by making them fall in love with Bella and Vincenzo as a couple.
Overall, the pictures I drew will effectively display how two people fall in love over a short period of time. I would like my group’s final project to affect the audience by making them want to go to different places in Italy to find romance, adventure, religion, and food.
